Therapeutic effects of Regulon: Regulon, with two active ingredients, is a combined birth control medication made of synthetic gestagen and estrogen. These two compounds in Regulon are more active and potent that the sex hormones produced in the body. Regulon has a function that is similar to most other contraceptives; it discourages the process of ovulation, and enhances the viscosity of cervical mucus which hinders the movement of sperm into the uterine cavity. Regulon is a mild drug which has no impact in the lipid and carbohydrates metabolism and its mildness also reduces the changes of side effects.
Indications: Regulon is primarily used as an oral birth control medication, but it can also be used for treating:
- Disorders of the menstrual cycle
- Pain during menstruation (Dysmenorrhea)
- Physical or emotional symptoms that occurs about 5 to 11 days before the monthly menstrual cycle (Premenstrual syndrome)
- Abnormal genital tract bleeding (Dysfunctional uterine bleeding)
Precautions and Restrictions: Avoid using Regulon if the below mentioned conditions applies to you:
- If you are increasingly sensitive to the ingredients of this medicine
- If you are pregnant
- If you are lactating
- If you suffer from severe liver disorder
- Breast milk jaundice (Hyperbilirubinemia)
- Small, hard deposits that can form in the gallbladder (Gallstone disease)
- Inflammation of the gallbladder (Cholecystitis)
- Inflammation of the large intestine (Chronic colitis)
- Thromboembolia
- Severe Cardiovascular disease
- Tumors in the liver
- Cancerous growths (Malignant tumors)
- High blood pressure
- High blood cholesterol levels (Hyperlipoproteinemia)
- Diabetes
- Various types of anemia
- Bleeding in the vagina for unknown reason
- Migraines
- Abnormal bone growth in the middle ear causing hearing loss (Otosclerosis)
- Jaundice in pregnancy
- Severe itching skin
Regulon is placed in Pregnancy Category X by FDA, so this medicine is strictly prohibited for pregnant women. Stop using this medicine if the following applies:
- If you experience severe sight impairment, headaches, and symptoms of thrombosis
- Severe increase in blood pressure, jaundice or hepatitis without jaundice, itching, or epileptic convulsions occurs.
- If you are planning to have a surgery then Regulon should be stopped six weeks before the operation.
Side effects of Regulon: Use of Regulon tablets may cause certain side effects. The below mentioned side effects may not occur to every user of this medicine. Some of the common side effects caused by Regulon are:
- If this medicine is used for a long time then the users may experience pigmentary marks
- Contact Lens Discomfort
- Moodiness
