Active Ingredients:

  • Raloxifene

Therapeutic effect of Evista: Evista is an estrogen antagonist which is also famously known as SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator). Evista has dual action, it has estrogenic actions on bone and also anti-estrogenic actions on the breast and uterus. Eviata is used in the prevention of bone thinning and loss of bone density (osteoporosis) after menopause. By exerting an antagonist action on estrogen, Evista reduces the risks of breast cancer. Similarly, Evista prevents the wastage of calcium when a patient urinates. This action normalizes the level of calcium in the body and prevents bone thinning. This drug does not increase of uterine size, or cause bleeding and discharge in post climacteric period or cause endometrium proliferative. This medicine also checks the levels of LDL and general cholesterol. There are no previous reports to show that Evista can cause increase in HDL and triglycerides blood levels and lowers the amount of fibrinogen in the blood.

Indications: Evista helps to slow or prevent or reduce the symptoms and pain experienced by post menopausal women.

Contraindications and cautions: Do not take Evista if you have the following conditions:

  • Blocking of a blood vessel by a blood clot (Thromboembolic)
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Pulmonary embolism (PE) and Retinal vein thrombosis
  • Any kind of liver disorder
  • Any kind of serious kidney disease
  • Vaginal bleeding due to unknown cause
  • Malignant breast neoplasm (Breast cancer)
  • Cancer in the endometrium (Endometrial cancer)
  • High sensitivity to raloxifene or any other ingredient

Side effects of Evista: The use of Evista tablets may give rise to some side effects that are contrary to what is expected. It is has not been proven that these adverse reactions will effect every user of this drug. Some of the most common side effects of Evista tablets are pneumonia, sweating, pain in the muscles, weight gain, cephalalgia, Sinusitis, muscle spasms, water retention, symptoms of flu, pain in the joints and hot flashes.

Some of the less frequently seen side effects are gastrocnemius muscle spasms, swellings of the feet, ankles and calves, vasodilation, Retinal vein thrombosis, Pulmonary embolism, Venous thromboembolism and thrombopenia.
