Active Ingredients:

  • Povidone-Iodine

Therapeutic effect of Betadine: Betadine is an antiseptic which has Povidone Iodine as its active ingredient. This drug helps to reduce the bacterial activity and is used to treat minor wounds, skin infections, and vaginal infections. Betadine also has anti-protozoal and anti-fungal properties. The compounds in Betadine cures the infection by blocking the oxidation of cytoplasmic and iodination of lipids.

Indications: Betadine is used to treat minor cuts, burns, and other skin infections. It is also used for treating:

  • Vaginal infection caused by bacteria, and fungi
  • Gardnerella vaginalis, and Chlamydia
  • Vaginal infection caused by trichomonads
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the herpes simplex virus

Precautions and Restrictions: Use of Betadine is strictly discouraged if you have the following conditions:

  • Allergic reactions to Povidone Iodine (PVP-I)
  • Chronic thyroiditis, Colloid nodular goiter, Endemic goiter, or other Thyroid related disorder
  • If the user is pregnant
  • If the user is a breast feeding mother
  • If the user is a young child
  • Use Betadine after consulting a doctor if you have any Kidney disorder. The doctor should periodically monitor your Thyroid gland while taking Betadine.

Side effects: The use of Betadine to correct a specific disorder may cause certain adverse effects in certain users. Some of the potential side effects of Betadine include the following:

  • Allergic reactions of the skin
  • Metabolic acidosis
  • Itching and rashes
  • Hypernatraemia
  • Any type of Kidney disorder
