Drug name: Generic Alli
Active Ingredients:
- Orlistat
Therapeutic effect of Generic Alli Orlistat which is also known as tetrahydrolipstatin is part of class of drugs known as lipase inhibitors. Orlistat works by preventing the metabolism and absorption of lipids from the human diet and thus lowering the calorie intake.
Indications: Generic Alli is mainly used to treat obesity and reduce weight in combination with diet and exercise.
Precautions and Restrictions: Try to avoid using Generic Alli if you have the following conditions:
- High sensitivity to the ingredients used in this drug
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- Change in the ability of the intestine to absorb nutrients in to the blood (Malabsorption syndrome)
- Gall bladder disorder
- Renal disorder including urolithiasis
- Diabetes
- Problems of the thyroid gland
- Inflammation of the pancreas (Pancreatitis)

Adverse effects: There are certain side effects of Generic Alli that may affect some people. But it has not been proven that these side effects will be experienced by all patients. Some of the common side effects caused by this drug are:
- Pain in the abdomen
- Uncontrollable flatulence
- Sudden feeling of having to emit waste (Fecal urgency)
- Oil spotting
- Steatorrhea
- Inflammation of the sinuses caused by infection (Sinusitis)
- Soft stool
Other generic Alli side effects include: increased bowel movement, back pain, kidney stomach, gall bladder disease, signs of allergic reaction.
The side effects listed above may not include all of the side effects reported by the drug's manufacturer.
Generic Alli can react with other medicines, increasing or decreasing their effectiveness or by causing a totally unintended effect. Interactions: Some of the drugs that can react with Generic Alli tablets:
- Medicines used to treat heart rhythm disorders such as amiodarone
- Medicines used to suppresses immune function such as cyclosporine
- Drugs to treat diabetics
- Medications used to treat thyroid gland disorders
- Anticoagulants such as warfarin
- Certain vitamins
