Drug name: Triderm
Active Ingredients:
- bethametasone clotrimazole gentamicin
Therapeutic effects of Triderm: Being a synthetic corticosteroid, Bethametasone is effective in reducing inflammation in the skin. It is directly absorbed into the skin cells on application. It acts by inhibiting the release of specific chemicals by the cells.
The clotrimazole part of Triderm is used in treating yeast and fungal infections. It acts so by interfering with the formation of their cell membranes. On consumption, clotrimazole inhibits ergosterol production by the fungi which is a main component of their cell membrane leading to hole formation in the membrane.
The role of gentamycin is to prevent the bacterial action in the body because Gentamycin is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria by making it produce defective proteins that the bacteria cannot survive without. Due to this action of the drug, Gentamycin is classified into aminoglycosides class of antibiotics.
