Drug name: Solcoseryl
Active Ingredients:
- Free proteine extract of calf blood
Therapeutic effects of Solcoseryl: Solcoseryl is a tissue metabolism activator. It is also chemically and biologically standardized and deproteinised. This non antigenic and apyrogenic hemodialized extract from the blood of a healthy young calf contains a large amount of natural low molecular substances such as glycolipides, nucleosides, nucleotides, amino acids, oligopeptides, irreplaceable micro elements, electrolytes. Solcoseryl improves the reparative and regenerative processes. The said medication also contributes to the activation of metabolic processes and oxidative phosphorylation reactions. Solcoseryl increases oxygen intake, especially in cases of hypoxia. Membrane-stabilizing and cell-protecting are some of its properties.
Indications: Solcoseryl vials are given to treat:
- Peripheral artery occlusive disease (Fontaine stage 2 or 3)
- Condition where the veins cannot pump enough oxygen-poor blood back to the heart (Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI))
Solcoseryl Gel and Ointment are used to treat:
- Radiodermatitis (Radiation dermatitis)
- Wounds (Trauma)
- Wounds that heal very slowly
- Freezings
- Burns caused by chemicals or heat or fire
- Pressure sores (Bed sores)
Solcoseryl dental paste is used for treating:
- Inflammation in the mouth, gums, cavity, and lips
- Mouth Ulcer
- Angular stomatitis, herpes simplex, inflammation and infection of the ligaments and bones that support the teeth (periodontitis), inflammation of the gums (Gingivitis)
- Pain in the mouth cavity
- Sores due to dental prosthesis
- To heal wounds after dental extraction
Precautions and Restrictions:
- Do not use Solcoseryl if you are allergic or highly sensitive to the components of this medicine.
- Users who are pregnant or lactating should use this medicine with caution.
- This medicine should not be given to children below the age of 18.
- Use Solcoseryl only after clearing the wounds with antiseptics, and if the wound is contaminated use this medicine only after cleaning the wound with antiseptics and antibiotics for at least 2 to 3 days.
- In case of weeping wounds first apply Solcoseryl gel till the process of epithelialization will cover damaged skin area and then use Solcoseryl ointment.
Side effects of Solcoseryl: Users of Solcoseryl may experience certain side effects that are unintended. These adverse reactions may affect different people in different ways. There is no proof that all the users of this drug will have the below mentioned effects. The most common side effects of this medicine are various allergic reactions, change in taste perception, change in teeth color, local edema, and burning sensation.

- Do not mix Solcoseryl vials with other medications, excepting isotonic solution sodium chloride 0.9% and 5% solution of glucose.
- Solcoseryl vial is not incompatible with parenteral pharmaceutical forms of Ginkgo biloba, naftidrofuryl and bencyclane fumarate.
Additional Information: Solcoseryl should not be used without prior approval of a trained physician and don't share these drugs with anybody else.
