Active Ingredients:

  • Mometasone

Therapeutic action of Elocom: Mometasone is a topical form of Corticosteroids which is predominantly used for treating itches, rashes and inflammation of the skin.

Indications: Elocom is used for controlling symptoms like rashes, itching, swelling, redness caused due to allergic eczema and psoriasis.

Precautions and Restrictions: Avoid using Elocom if you have the following conditions:

  • If you are intolerant to any of the ingredients used in this drug
  • If you have untreated lesions of the skins cased by virus, bacteria and fungi
  • In case of Children, you may notice adverse reactions that are related to both topical steroids and other corticosteroids.

Do not use this substance for long periods of time and do not apply it on a large surface area because Elocom is easily absorbed by the body. The larger the surface area the bigger the amount of the medicine that is absorbed by the body. This is particularly true in case of children who are more susceptible to reactions related to corticosteroids like Cushing's syndrome and HPA axis suppression.

Elocom is for external use only, please avoid contact with eyes. This medicine contain isopropyl alcohol hence do not use it on sun-burned skin or other locations where the skin is damaged.

Users who have circulation related skin diseases such as stasis dermatitis should use this medicine with caution.

There are no reports or tests to show that Elocom is not safe for pregnant and breast feeding women. Nonetheless this medicine should only be used if the benefits outnumber the risks involved.

If you are already using glucocorticoids then it is best to let your doctor know, because the user may experience dryness, irritation and sensitization. In such a case discontinue the use of this medicine at once. If regular use of this drug does not yield the desired results then its best to reevaluate the condition again. If continued use of this drug causes any skin damage the treatment should be discontinued at once.

Side effects: Use of Elocom may cause certain side effects. The below mentioned side effects can occur in some patients, while others will not have any side effects after using the drug. Some of the less common side effects are:

  • Skin thinning which results in bruising
  • Infection of the skin
  • Small red colored swelling on the face
  • Pus filled blisters in the hair follicles
  • Numbness in the digits
  • Skin problems that do not heal
  • Itchy and burning skin
  • Skin blisters that are filled with blood

  • Infections getting worse
  • Severe weakness in the trunk, legs and arms
  • Vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Hair loss, particularly in the scalp region
  • Unusual hair growth in the face region
  • Decreased sex drive in men
  • Abnormal bruising
  • Skin tearing
  • Swelling feet and lower legs
  • Stomach pain, bloating, cramping and burning
  • Skin becoming too soft
  • Change in skin color
  • Reddish lines in legs, arms and faces
  • Unusual loss or gain of weight
  • Nausea
  • Cramping of muscles
  • Pain and weakness in the muscles
  • Loss of appetite
  • Itching or irritation around the mouth
  • Irritability
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Arrhythmia
  • Hypertension
  • Blotting of the face
  • Pain in the eye
  • Depression
  • Skin blisters that irritate and itch
  • Vision problems
  • Dorsalgia
  • Acne
