Therapeutic effects of Nazol: Oxymetazoline Oxymetazoline is a decongestant. It works by narrowing the veins and arteries inside your body. This nasal formulation targets directly the blood vessels found in your nasal tissues in your nose and sinuses. Drainage and clearing of congestion can result from the use of the said medication.

Indications: Oxymetazoline Nazol is used to relieve nasal congestions caused due to cold, irritation of the sinuses, high fever, and allergies. Besides these benefits there might be other as well.

Precautions and Restrictions: It is not advisable to use Nazol nasal medicine for more than 3 to 5 days. If after using for 5 days the symptoms does not subside then talk your doctor at once. Prolonged use of this medicine may cause permanent damage to the nasal tissue and can even cause chronic nasal congestion. Never use more than the prescribed dosage.

Side effects of Nazol: Use of Nazol can cause some side effects that are wholly or partly unintended. The side effects stated below are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records of such effects affecting all users of Nazol.

Some of side effects that may occur are:

  • Various allergic reactions such as swelling of the lips, face, mouth, and lower legs; throat closing, breathing difficulty, etc.
  • Convulsions
  • Hallucinations and abnormal behavior
  • Arrhythmia

Other common side effects that may occur are nose irritation, dryness of nose, stinging pain, burning sensation, sneezing, etc.

  • Tricyclic antidepressants such as trimipramine (Surmontil); protriptyline (Vivactil); imipramine (Tofranil); desipramine (Norpramin); clomipramine (Anafranil); amoxapine (Asendin); nortriptyline (Pamelor); doxepin (Sinequan); and amitriptyline (Elavil, Endep)
  • Theophylline such as Theolair, Theochron, Theo-Dur, etc
  • Caffeine in tea, coffee, chocolate, cola, and others
  • Bromocriptine such as Parlodel
  • Methyldopa such as Aldomet
  • Indomethacin such as Indocin
  • Guanethidine such as Ismelin
  • Furazolidone such as Furoxone

Additional Information: Nazol should not be used without prior approval of a trained physician and don't share these drugs with anybody else. Nazol is made for specific conditions and it's not advisable to use them for other purposes. Keep medicinal drugs out of the reach of children.
