No-Spa

Drug name: NO-SPA

Active Ingredients:

  • Drotaverine hydrochloride

Therapeutic effects of No-Spa: Drotaverine hydrochloride is an isoquinoline spasmolytic. It employs antispasmodic action on the smooth muscle. This is the result of arresting the activity of an enzyme called phosphodiesterase IV. This results to the surge in the amount of adenosine cyclic phosphate also known as cyclo-AMP. Smooth muscles are relaxed as the cyclo-AMP disables the myosin-light-chain kinase.

Drotaverine can lower the tonicity of the insides of smooth muscles, trim down their motion activity and moderately dilate blood vessels. However, it cannot pose effects on CNS and vegetative nervous system.
