Therapeutic effect of Bisacodyl: Bisacodyl is a laxative that acts on large intestine and stimulates the bowel movement. This drug is also used before surgery, because just before x-ray or an operation it's necessary to clear the bowels of the patient.
Indications: Bisacodyl is primarily used for the treatment of constipation.
Precautions and Restrictions: It's not advisable to use Bisacodyl if you're suffering from pain in the stomach, vomiting, nausea. Consult a doctor before using it, if there is any sudden change in your bowel movement and this condition persists for more than 2 weeks.
Do not use Bisacodyl for more than one week or use it only after consulting your doctor. While taking Bisacodyl if you experience rectal bleeding or experience no bowel movement then it's best to discontinue this drug and consult your doctor at once.
Prior to using Bisacodyl:
- Apprise your physician if you're allergic to Bisacodyl or tartrazine, aspirin, or other similar medicines
- Apprise your physician of the medicines and treatments you are currently undergoing
- Apprise your doctor if you're pregnant or planning to have a child
- Apprise your doctor if you're a breast feeding mother
Side effects: Below mentioned are some of the adverse reactions that users of this drug may experience:
- Burning or itching sensation in the rectum
- Lacking brightness
- Itching in the stomach or intestine
- Diarrhea
- Cramps in the stomach
- Stomach pain
