Active Ingredients:
- Lornoxicam
Therapeutic effects of Xefocam: Lornoxicam is categorized into a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID's). The effects of this drug are anti-inflammatory, analgetic, anti-pyretic and anti-aggregative in nature. It acts by reducing the aggregation of thrombocytes, disturbing the arachidonic acid metabolism and reducing the production of Pg, all of which lead to a massive reduction in inflammatory factors. The drug is also known to suppress exudation and proliferation.
Indications: Xefocam is administered to patients with the following conditions:
- Inflammation of the joints and surrounding tissues (Rheumatoid arthritis)
- Joint disorder caused due to aging and wear and tear on a joint (Osteoarthritis)
- Inflammation of the joints between the spinal bones, and the joints between the spine and pelvis (Rheumatoid spondylitis)
- Problem of the joints caused during Gout
- Inflammation of the bursa that lies between a tendon and skin or between a tendon and bone (Bursitis)
- Inflammation of a tendon and its tendon sheath (Tendovaginitis)
- Mild and moderate pain
- Joint pain (Arthralgia)
- Muscle pain (Myalgia)
- Sharp, shocking pain that follows the path of a nerve (Neuralgia)
- Low back pain (Liumbago)
- Migraine
- Pain in the hip (Ischialgia)
- Tooth ache
- Cephalalgia
- Algodismenorhea
- Pain due to burning and bruising
- Pyrexia due to cold and infections
Precautions and Restrictions: Avoid using Xefocam if the below mentioned conditions applies to you:
- If you are highly sensitive to the ingredients of this medicine
- If you suffer from disorder of the gastrointestinal tract that causes serious erosion
- If you suffer from bronchial asthma
- If you suffer from heart attack
- If you suffer from insufficiency of the blood to clot and stem bleeding properly (Hypocoagulation)
- If you suffer from decreased blood volume (Hypovolemia)
- If you suffer from acute liver or kidney insufficiency
- If you have Stroke (Cerebral hemorrhage)
- If you are pregnant
- If you are a nursing mother
- If you are below the age of 18
Observe causation while using this medicine if:
- If you have erosive disease of the gastrointestinal tract
- If you suffer from kidney insufficiency
- If you have undergone surgery in the recent past
- If you are a elderly person over the age of 65
- If you weigh less than 50 kg or 110 lbs
Side effects of Xefocam: Listed below are some of the side-effects one may experience after using Xefocam. Please note that the said effects vary per individual and are not absolute in nature. A patient may or may not experience any after effects upon intake. Use of Xefocam may result in:
- Problems of the gastrointestinal tract such as liver dysfunction, diarrhea, pyrosis, vomiting or urge to vomit, dry mouth, abdominal pain, indigestion, etc
- Side effects that impact the central nervous system such as aseptic meningitis, tremor, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, somnolence, dizziness, cephalalgia, and others
- Inflammations in the skin
- Problems on the urogenital system such as acute renal insufficiency, nephrotic syndrome, papillary necrosis, nephritis, decrease in glomerular filtration, dysuria, etc
- Ringing in the ear
- Side effects impacting the cardiovascular system such as high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, heart failure
- Thromocitopenia, anemia, leucopenia, agranulacytosis, etc
- Various allergic reactions
- Increase of blood flow to different tissues in the body (hyperemia)
- Other side effects like bronchial spasm, excessive perspiration
- Prolonged use of this medicine may lead to ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract, haemorrhages, and other disorders

Interactions: Prior to using Xefocam it's very important to consult a doctor and apprise him of the treatment or medication you are using. This is to make sure that the combination of the two drugs is safe. Xefocam may interact with the following:
- Medicines used to treat high cholesterol levels
- Drugs used to treat diabetes
- Medicines used in treating cancer
- Antacids
- Other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
- Lithium preparations
- Medicines that promote the formation of urine (Diuretics)
- Drugs used to treat high blood pressure
- Anti-aggregative drugs
- Estrogens
- Medicines used as blood thinners
- Uricosuric medications
