Active Ingredients:

  • Methylprednisolone

Therapeutic effect of Medrol: Methylprednisolone is a synthetic corticosteroid. This kind of chemical is regularly produced by the adrenal glands for various purposes. Methylprednisolone restrain the discharge of certain elements that are responsible for inflammations and allergic reactions. It also decreases the production of white blood cells which help minimize organ rejections during transplants. Refusal of an organ can be caused by the attack of white blood cells to foreign tissues placed inside the body during such procedures.

Indications: Medrol is administered for treating:

  • Several diseases of the endocrine glands such as primary and secondary adrenal insufficiency
  • Rheumatoid diseases such as acute gouty arthritis, unspecific tendosynovitis, acute gouty arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, etc
  • Diseases of the connective tissues such as rheumatic poly-myalgia, acute rheumatic carditis, lupus erythematosis, etc
  • Various skin diseases such as Seborrhoeic dermatitis, severe psoriasis, inflammation of the skin (Dermatitis)
  • Diseases of the respiratory system such as asthma, TB, Simple pulmonary eosinophilia, Symptomatic sarcoidosis, etc
  • Blood disorders like hypoplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, secondary thrombocytopenia, idiopathic thrombocytopenia, etc
  • Diseases of the digestive system such as inflammation of the small intestine (enteritis), non specific colitis, etc
  • Lymphatic leukemia
  • Cancer of the lymphocytes
  • Eye inflammation
  • Edema syndrome (swelling)

Precautions and Restrictions: Never use Medrol under the following circumstances:

  • If you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient of this medicine
  • If you suffer from any form of fungal infection
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation

You should talk with your health care provider prior to taking Medrol if you experience the following conditions:

  • TB (Tuberculosis)
  • Inflammation of the vein caused by blood clots (Thrombophlebitis)
  • Intestinal anastomosis
  • Steroids caused muscle disorders
  • Thinning of the bone tissue (Osteoporosis)
  • Liver related disorder
  • Inflammation of the large intestine (Colitis)
  • Small pouches of the inner lining of the intestine (Diverticulitis)
  • Non production of adequate amount of thyroid hormone (Hypothyroidism)
  • Women after menopause
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Mental illness
  • High blood pressure
  • Infection of the eye caused by Herpes simplex virus
  • Heart Failure (HF)
  • Suffering from glaucoma or has a family history of glaucoma
  • Epilepsy seizure
  • Diabetes and family history of diabetes
  • Renal disorders
  • Pus producing infections
  • Myasthenia
  • If the user is an elderly person
  • If the user is a young child

Warning!

  • Do not use Medrol for a long period of time
  • Never use Medrol along with chickenpox vaccine
  • It is not advisable to discontinue the use of Medrol in the middle of the treatment period
  • Users of Medrol may experience increase in blood pressure while using this medication
  • Medrol has masking effect on certain infections

Side effects: When using Medrol tablets there is always a distant possibility of the user experiencing some kind of adverse reaction that is wholly or partly unintended. These side effects are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records of such effects due to Medrol tablets.   • High blood pressure
  • Frazonism
  • Acne
  • Ulcers in the intestine which can bleed
  • Thinning of the bones and loss of bone density (osteoporosis)
  • Problems of the menstrual cycle
  • Changes in body weight
  • Eye condition that damages the optic nerve (glaucoma)
  • Rashes
  • Upset stomach
  • Growth suppression in children
  • Depressive disorder
  • Sleeplessness
