Drug name: Finalgel
Therapeutic effect of Finalgel: Piroxicam, with an active ingredient Finalgel, is part of a class of medicines known as NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). Like other NSAIDs, this drug possesses both antipyretic and analgesic properties. Finalgel's mechanism of action is to inhibit the formation of a group of lipids called prostaglandins. These messenger molecules play a vital role in formation of inflammations. Finalgel by blocking the enzyme COX prevents the production of prostaglandins. This medicine is used to reduce inflammation, swelling caused by fluid in certain parts of the body, pain in the joints and muscles etc.
Indications: Finalgel is used for treating:
- Inflammation of the joints between the spinal bones (Ankylosing spondylitis)
- Joint disorder caused due to wear and tear of the joint (Osteoarthrosis)
- Chronic infectious arthritis
- Juvenile chronic arthritis
- Swelling and irritation of tendon (Tendinitis)
- Inflammation of the tendon and tendon sheath (Tendovaginitis)
- Complex regional pain syndrome
- Duplay's disease
- Sports injuries such as strain, luxation, concussion etc.
- Swelling and pain on the tendons, muscles and joints
Precautions and Restrictions: Do not apply Finalgel if you have the following conditions:
- Hyper sensitivity to piroxicam or similar substances
- If the patient is a young child below 14 years of age
- If the user is pregnant
- If the user is a breast feeding mother
If there is no improvement in the condition even after 2 weeks of Finalgel application then stop using this medicine.
Use Finalgel with caution if:
- You have a swelling in the lungs (Bronchial asthma)
- You are allergic reaction affecting the nose and eyes (Allergic rhinitis)
- You have obstructive pulmonary disease
- Do not apply Finalgel on open wounds
Side effects of Finalgel: There is always a distant possibility of some kind of adverse effect that is wholly unintended when medical substances like Finalgel are used. The below mentioned side effects are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records of such effects being caused by Finalgel. Some of the adverse effects that may occur in rare cases are allergic reactions such as irritation, rashes and other reactions like stomach aches etc.
