Drug name: Teveten

Active Ingredients:

• Eprosartan mesylate

Therapeutic effects of Teveten: Teveten also known as eprosartan mesylate belongs to the group of angiotensin II receptor (AT1) antagonists. The said group is a collection of anti-hypertensive medications. As the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 is selectively blocked, the eprosartan lowers the secretion of aldosterone and vasoconstrictive effects of angiotensin II manifests. Teveten reduces high blood pressure without having considerable effects on an individual's heart rate, cholesterol and sugar levels. However, it does not act upon angiotensin converting enzymes or ACEs as wells as hormones and ions that are vital in cardiovascular regulation.

Indications: Teveten tablets are used to treat patients with high blood pressure. This medicine can be either used alone or in combination with other medicines like calcium channel blockers and diuretics.

Precautions and Restrictions: Do not use this medicine:

• If you are allergic or highly sensitive to the active ingredients of this medicine
• If you are pregnant
• If you are a nursing mother

Before taking Teveten inform your doctor if you suffer from kidney dysfunction.

If you are pregnant do not use this medicine. If you are using Teveten and you find out that you are pregnant then stop using this medicine at once, because this medicine acts directly on renin-angiotensin system so it may cause injury and sometimes even death to the developing fetus.
