Drug name: Exforge

Active Ingredients:

  • Amlodipine and Valsartan

Therapeutic effect of Exforge: Exforge is a medicine used to treat high blood pressure. This drug contains two main ingredients that work together to reduce high blood pressure. The two ingredients amlodipine and valsartan have proven to be very effective in acting against hypertension. Amlodipine is a potent calcium channel blocker that relaxes the muscle of the arterial wall and reduces the resistance thereby decreasing the blood pressure. On the other hand Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagoist (angiotensin receptor blocker or ARB) that acts by blocking angiotensin, a compound that narrows the blood vessels. Valsartan through its blocking action dilates blood vessels and decreases the blood pressure.
