Drug name: Mildronat
Active Ingredients:
- Mildronate
Therapeutic effect of Mildronat: Mildronate is a structural analogue precedent of the carnitine - gamma-butyrobetaine (GBB). It slows down the activity of the gamma-butyrobetain-hydroxylase. As a result, there is a decrease of carnitine biosynthesis and long-chain fatty acid transport through cell membranes. Mildoronate, also lessens adverse effects by preventing the accumulation of Acyl-CoA and Acyl-carnitine, which are both metabolites of long-chain fatty acids in cells.
Under the conditions of ischemia, Mildronate activates the anaerobic glycolysis and stimulates ATP fabrication. It also transports and restores the balance between oxygen delivery and consumption.
Decline in carnitine absorption triggers the activation of activation gamma-butyrobetaine synthesis. The latter is capable of performing vasodilatating activities. Mildronate has a cardio protective effect. In the event that a chronic congestive heart failure occurs, it intensifies myocardial contractility which allows for the increased tolerance of the organism to physical overload. In patients with a stable stage II or III angina pectoris, Mildronate physical vital that leads to the deteriorating number of angina pectoris attacks.
In cases of acute and chronic ischemic cerebrovascular disruptions, Mildronate makes the cerebral blood flow better in the ischemic region. This promotes reorganization in the flow of blood giving much favour to the ischemic zone. Mildronate also has a tonic effect which avoids functional interruptions of the somatic and vegetative nervous system.
