Therapeutic effect of Cerucal: Cerucal with Metoclopramide as its active ingredient increases the response of acetylcholine in the upper gastrointestinal tract; it also increases the lower esophageal sphincter tone and promotes gastric emptying. Cerucal also blocks serotonin receptors and dopamine receptors.
Indications: Cerucal is used for treating diabetic gastroparesis, a stomach disorder that causes slow emptying of the stomach contents. This drug is also used to prevent vomiting, nausea and other similar sensations.
Precautions and Restrictions:
- Before taking this drug talk to a doctor about your medical history especially liver disorder, kidney disorder, allergies, gastrointestinal problems, high blood pressure, depression and other mental disorders, diabetics, bleeding, Epilepsy, asthma, adrenal tumor, Parkinson's diseases and heart related ailments
- Taking this drug may result in drowsiness hence try to avoid activities that require quick reflexes or thinking
- Try to avoid drinking while taking Cerucal, because it may add to drowsiness
- If you're pregnant consult a doctor before taking this medicine
- The ingredients used to make Cerucal can pass into mother's milk
- If the user of this drug is a young infant, talk to a doctor before administering this drug
Side effects of Cerucal: With therapeutic drugs there is always a distant possibility of some kind of adverse effect that is wholly or partly unintended. The side effects mentioned here are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records that these effects are caused by Cerucal.
Some of the adverse effects that may occur while using Cerucal:
- Drowsiness
- Agitation
- Insomnia
- Dryness of mouth
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Muscle spasms
- Trembling hands
- Involuntary actions
- Depression and other mental disorders. Use Cerucal with caution if you have a history of mental disorder
- Life-threatening neurological disorder most often caused by an adverse reaction to neuroleptic
- Extrapyramidal side-effects (EPSE) such as Akathisia (inability to remain motionless) and Akinesia (inability to initiate movement)
- Allergic reaction to Cerucal or any of its ingredients
- Itching, rashes, breathlessness, and swelling

Never use Cerucal with the following medicines or substances: sodium bicarbonate, penicillin G potassium, furosemide, chloramphenicol, calcium gluconate, Ampicillin, propofol, furosemide, doxorubicin liposome, cefepime, amsacrine, amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate complex, Allopurinol.
