Active Ingredients:
- Glibenclamide(glyburide)
Therapeutic effects of Maninil: Glyburide, the active ingredient of Maninil, restricts the ATP sensitive potassium channels that are present in the beta cells of pancreas. It also causes the depolarization of the cell membrane which results in opening up of the voltage dependent calcium channels, which in turn enhances the amount of intracellular calcium thereby inducing insulin secretion.
Indications: Maninil is administered to treat insulin dependent type II diabetes with partially preserved synthesis of insulin.
Precautions and Restrictions: Use Maninil with caution under the following circumstances:
- Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM)
- Condition where the body cannot use glucose as a fuel source due to total lack insulin or not enough of insulin (diabetic ketoacidosis)
- If the user is pregnant
- If the user has serious liver or kidney disorder
- If the user is increasingly sensitive to Glyburide
- User who are aged and are suffering from kidney and liver failure should use this medicine with caution as it may cause low blood sugar.
- Do not take alcoholic beverages while using this medicine as it may result in low blood sugar.
- Maninil may pass through mother's milk so if you are a nursing mother stop using this medicine.
Side effects of Maninil: Users of Maninil tablets may experience adverse effects that are wholly unexpected. These side effects are only a distant possibility and there is no prior proven records of such effects due to use of Maninil or it has not been proven that everyone using this drug will show the bellow mentioned effects.
If the user experience allergic reactions such as hives, swelling in face, tongue, eye, etc, throat closing, and breathing difficulty, etc; then stop using this medicine and visit a doctor.
Other side effects which may occur as a result of using this medicine are hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia occurs when Maninin is used in large quantity or if other drugs are used, when you are ill or after using alcoholic beverages etc. Hyperglycemia occurs when adequate amount of Maninil is not used: if the user exercises less, if using other drugs, if more food is taken and other situations of such kind.

Hypoglycemic effect of Maninil is increased if it's taken with the following medicine MAO-inhibitors, salicylates, chloramphenicol, clofibrate, tetracycline, cumarin derivatives, sulphonamides, H2-blockers, Beta-blockers. Glibenclamid potentiates anticoagulant effect of warfarin. Glibenclamid's effectiveness is reduced when this medicine is used with oral contraceptives, phenothiazines, estrogen and gestegen hormones, and corticosteroids.
Additional Information: Maninil tablets are made for specific conditions and it's not advisable to use it for other purposes. Keep medicinal drugs, needles, syringes and other such medical substances out of the reach of children.
