Therapeutic effect of Glibomet: Anti-diabetic medicine Glibomet is made up of two compounds, metformin and glyburide. Glyburide is classified under Sulfonylurea, and metformin belongs to the class biguanide. Both these substances are oral diabetes medicines and are used in combination to effectively control high blood sugar levels.
Indications: Glibomet is used in the treatment of type II diabetes which is not insulin dependent and which is not well controlled by sulphonylureas and biguadine therapy.
Precautions and Restrictions: Users of Glibomet are at risk of developing a serious condition that could endanger their life. This life threatening condition exhibits certain symptoms like syncope, dizziness, abdominal pain, difficulty in breathing, pain in the muscles, bradycardia, weakness, cold and sleepiness.
Users of this drug would need a dosage change if they are suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), liver and kidney disorder and heart failure.
If you are pregnant or planning to have a child in the nearest future, then talk to a doctor before taking this medicine. Glibomet is placed in Pregnancy Category B by FDA. Side effects of Glibomet: The use of Glibomet tablets may give rise to some side effects that are contrary to what is expected. There are no reports that these adverse reactions will affect every user of this drug. Discontinue the use of Glibomet tablets and consult a doctor at once if you experience symptoms like sudden increase in body weight, difficulty in breathing, inflammation and hives.
Some of the less serious side effects are:
- Lightheadedness
- Diarrhea, pain in the abdomen, vomiting and nausea
- Cold, cough and sternutation
- Cephalalgia
