Drug name: Jox

Active Ingredients:

  • povidone-iodine + allantoin

Therapeutic effect of Jox: Jox is a preparation with antiseptic, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. This medication is locally applied to cure ear-nose-throat diseases. This medication is very effective against protozoa, bacteria, fungi, and virus.

Indications: Jox is administered to cure infections which cause inflammations in the mouth cavity and pharynx.

Precautions and Restrictions: Do not use Jox under the following circumstances:

  • Excess production of hormone by the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism)
  • Heart failure
  • Dermatitis herpetiformis
  • Concomitant use of radioactive iodine
  • If the user is a young infant below the age of 8
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
  • Hypersensitive to iodine or allantoin

Jox is for the external use only, so never swallow or inhale this medicine.

Side effects of Jox: Listed below are some of the side effects one may experience using this medication. Please note that the side effects vary per individual and are not absolute in nature. A patient may or may not experience any after effects upon intake.

This is a safe medicine to use but in rare cases allergic reactions such as itching and rashes may occur.

If this medicine is used for a long time, about 7 to 10 days, then there are chances that the user may experience iodine poisoning which symptomized by larynx and eye edema, increased salivation, and metal taste.
