Drug name: Fervex
Active Ingredients:
- Ascorbic acid
- Paracetamol
- Pheniramine
Therapeutic effect of Fervex: Fervex is made up of three major compounds that combine their individual properties to give a potent anti-inflammatory drug. The three ingredients of Fervex are Pheniramine, Paracetamol and Ascorbic acid. Acetaminophen or Paracetamol in this drug act as pain killers (analgesic) and also reduce fever (antipyretic). Pheniramine on the other hand acts as H1 histamine receptor blockers thus reducing lacrimation, rhinorrhea and spasticity. The third compound, Ascorbic acid, helps in normalization of the carbohydrate metabolic process, clotting of blood, regeneration of tissues, and steroid hormones synthesis.
Indications: Fervex is used to treat the following:
- Respiratory tract infections
- Allergic reactions in the nose and eyes (allergic rhinitis)
- Common cold (rhino-pharyngitis)
- Pain syndrome
- Pain in the joints (arthralgia)
- Muscle pain (myalgia)
- Sharp pain in the nerve due to the damage to the nerve (neuralgia)
- Cephalalgia (headache)
- Toothache
- Pain during menstruation (algodismenorrhea)
- Pain caused after burns and trauma
Precautions and Restrictions: Do not use this drug under the following circumstances:
- If you are highly sensitive to any of the ingredients or similar substances
- If you have high blood pressure in the portal vein
- If you are suffering from alcoholism
- If you are suffering from poor function of the kidneys
- If you are pregnant (I and III trimester)
- If you are a breast feeding mother
- Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
Use Fervex with caution under the following circumstances:
- Inherited breast milk jaundice (hyperbilirubinemia)
- If the user is very young
- Angle closure glaucoma
- Prostate gland enlargement
If a problem persists even after using this medicine please consult a doctor. Do not take alcohol with this medicine as it may result in liver damage.
Side effects of Fervex: Whenever Fervex powder is used there is always a distant possibility of some kind of adverse effect that is wholly or partly unintended. The side effects stated below are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records of such effects being caused by Fervex.

- Using Fervex for a long time may cause chemical driven liver damage
- Drowsiness
- Water retention
- Loss of ability to move body parts (Paresis of accommodation)
- Difficulty in speech and eating (Xerostomia)
- Unusually low amount of platelets (Thrombocytopenia)
- Lack of healthy red blood cells (Anemia)
- Epigastric pain
- Nausea
- Various allergic reactions

- Drugs used to treat Parkinson's disease
- Medication used to alleviate mood disorders (Antidepressants)
- Ethanol
