Drug name: Crestor
Active Ingredients:
- rosuvastatin calcium
Therapeutic effect of Crestor: Crestor is a member of a class of drugs called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. This drug is primarily used to treat high cholesterol and other similar problems. The active ingredient in Crestor helps remove the cholesterol from the blood and store it in the liver and by doing so Crestor reduces the level of triglycerides in the blood and also increases the level of good cholesterol in the blood.
Indications: Crestor tablets are used for treating the following:
- It's used to reduce the hardening of the arteries and by doing so it lowers the risk of stroke and heart attacks
- Broad beta disease
- Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia
- Elevated levels of triglyceride
- Presence of high levels of cholesterol in the blood
Precautions and Restrictions: Do not use Crestor if you have the following:
- If you're are hypersensitive to Crestor or any of its ingredients
- Severe liver or kidney diseases
- Any type of thyroid disorder
- If you're are pregnant
- If you're a breast feeding mother
- Consult a doctor if you are alcohol dependent or are of Asian descent
Side effects of Crestor: The use of Crestor to correct a specific disorder may cause certain adverse effects in certain users. Some of the potential side effects of Crestor tablets include the following:
- Allergic reactions like hives
- Dizziness and headaches
- Disorders relating to the digestive system like inflammation of the liver, jaundice, abdominal pain, increased activity of livers transaminases, nausea and constipation
- Itching and rashes
- Proteinuria or other disorders of the Urogenital system
- Asthenia
