Active Ingredients:

Therapeutic effect of Ovral: Ovral is part of a class of drugs called monophasic oral contraceptive pill and it has two main ingredients, progestins and estrogens. Ovral's mode of action is to prevent the secretion of female sex hormones such as follicle-stimulating hormones and luteinizing hormone. These two female sex hormones play crucial role in the ovulation process. Also, Ovral increases the viscosity of the cervical mucus which makes it impossible for the sperm to move freely. Ovral also has a significant impact on the endomethrium making it very difficult for the egg to be implanted.
Indications:
- Ovral is used to prevent undesirable pregnancy.
- Some physicians also suggest Ovral for treating premenstrual disorders.
Precautions and Restrictions: Avoid using Ovral under the following circumstances:
- If you are intolerant to the ingredients in this medicine
- Involuntary contraction of muscles (Tetany)
- Mammary gland tumors (MGTs) or tumors of the genitals
- Lack of sufficient healthy red blood cell
- Increased predisposition to thrombosis
- Brain disorders related to the problems with the blood vessels supplying the brain
- Diabetes
- Lipid metabolism disorder
- Sudden inflammation of the gallbladder (Cholecystitis)
- Gallstones
- Mild jaundice throughout life (Dubin-Johnson syndrome)
- Rotor type hyperbilirubinemia
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- Inflammation and swelling of the liver
- Disorder related to the endocrine system
- Inflammatory bowel diseases
- Ailments related to the cardiovascular system
Side effects of Ovral: Users of Ovral tablets may experience certain side effects, but they do not occur in all people that are taking this drug. Some of the adverse reactions that users of this drug may experience are:
- Decreased sex drive
- Moderate or severe headache (migraine)
- Acne
- Breast swelling
- Changes in the breast form
- Contact lens intolerance
- Nausea and vomiting
- Bleeding between menstrual cycles
