Active Ingredients:

  • Acyclovir

Therapeutic effect of Herpevir: Acyclovir, the primary component of Herpevir, is an anti-viral agent which acts against the viral DNA to scuttle its multiplication process. This anti-viral drug is very effective against Cytomegalovirus and Herpes simplex type I and II virus. This medicine also exerts immunomodulatory action.

Indications: Herpevir is administered to cure the following:

  • herpes infection that affects the skin and mucous lining
  • sexually transmitted infection caused by Herpes simplex virus (Genital herpes)
  • herpes zoster (Shingles)
  • virus infection which causes extremely itchy blisters all over the body (Chickenpox)

Precautions and Restrictions: Refrain from using Herpevir if you are:

  • Intolerant to this drug or its ingredients
  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding

If you have any liver or renal diseases then discuss with a doctor before taking this medicine.

Side effects of Herpevir: Use of Herpevir may result in some kind of adverse effects that are wholly unintended. These side effects are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records to show that all users of Herpevir will experience these side effects.

Some of the most common side effects are:

  • Pain
  • Sensation that causes the desire to scratch (Itching)
  • Rashes
  • Inflammation of the outer female genitalia (Vulvitis)
  • Side effects such as renal failure, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, certain neurologic disorders and cephalalgia

  • Phenytoin (Herpevir reduces Phenytoin levels in the blood)
  • Probenecid when taken with Herpevir will reduce the level of acyclovir in blood
  • Tenofovir (Herpevir will increase the levels of Tenofovir in the blood)
