Therapeutic effect of Clotrimazol: Clotrimazol is an anti-fungal drug used against various infections caused due to fungus. Clotrimazol inhibits the growth of fungus by acting against the fungal cell wall and reduces the activity of vital enzymes within the cell. Clotrimazol achieves its purpose by causing the leakage of intracellular phosphorus compounds and also the breakdown of the cellular nucleic acids. This activity of Clotrimazol kills the fungi and stops its rapid multiplication.
Indications: Clotimazol is used for the treatment of the following conditions:
- Nappy rash caused by fungi Candida albicans
- Infection caused by yeast fungus (vaginal thrush)
- Inflammation of the penis caused by Candida albicans
- Miliaria caused by Candida albicans
- Infection of the feet caused by fungus (Athlete's foot)
- Dermatophytosis
- Ringworm of the groin
- Vaginal inflammation
Precautions and Restrictions: Clotimazol is used for the treatment of the following conditions:
- Do not use this drug if you are allergic to Clotimazol or any of its ingredients, and try to avoid using this if the user is a young infant.
- Consult a doctor before taking Clotimazol if you're pregnant or a breast feeding mother, or below 16 or above 60 years of age, or if your sexual partner has thrush, start your treatment at once.
- Clotimazol can react with latex and damage it, so if you're using this medicine on your private parts it's best to use other types of contraception. Clotimazol is for external use only. Clotimazol vaginal tablets are for vaginal use only.
Side effects of Clotimazol: The use of Clotimazol to correct a specific disorder may cause certain adverse effects in certain users. Some of the potential side effects of Clotimazol include the following:
- Itching
- Redness
- Irritation in the place the medicine is used
- Burning sensation
- Irritation in the vagina
