Active Ingredients:

  • ofloxacine

Therapeutic effects of Zanocin: The active ingredient in Zanocin is oflaxacin and it is classified under the quinolones antibiotics. Ofloxacin acts on DNA gyrase that is responsible for bacterial DNA replication. Without DNA replication, the bacterium is unable to multiply and eventually dies. The drug has effect on a broad spectrum of bacteria from Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Salmonella, Shigella, Enterobacter, Citrobacter, Providentia, Pseudomonas, Hafnia, and Staphylococcus, Neisseria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Campylobacter, Brucella, Vibrio, Aeromonas, Plesiomonas, Haemophilus influenza and Versinia.

Indications: Zanocin is administered to patients who are suffering from infections caused by bacteria that are susceptible to Ofloxacine:

  • Infections of the respiratory tract caused by Haemophilus influenzae or other Gram-negative cocci
  • Infections of ear, nose, and throat
  • Infections of the joints and bones
  • Abdominal infections
  • Bacterial gastroenteritis
  • Infections of the skin and soft tissue
  • Infections of the urogenital system
  • Sexually transmitted infections (Gonorrhea)
  • Condition in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria (Sepsis)

This medicine can also be used to prevent infections in people with weak immunity.

Precautions and Restrictions: Zanocin should not be used under the following circumstances:

  • If you are allergic or highly sensitive to the active ingredient of this medicine or to quinolones antibiotics
  • If you suffer from epilepsy
  • If you suffer from any disease that affects the central nervous system and causes seizures
  • If the user is below the age of 18
  • If you are pregnant
  • If you are a nursing mother
  • If you lack sufficient amount of G6PD enzyme in the blood

Before taking this medicine talk to your doctor if:

  • You suffer from renal failure and/or liver failure
  • If you have a history of experiencing seizures
  • If you suffer from any psychiatric disorder

Warning!

  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, because this medicine can cause hypersensitivity of the skin.
  • It is not advisable to use alcohol while taking this medicine, because alcohol can increase the side effects of Ofloxacin.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery while using this medicine.
  • If you experience inflammation of joints then stop using Zanocin at once.

Side effects of Zanocin tablets: If you are using Zanocin tablets there is always a distant possibility of some kind of adverse effect that is wholly or partly unintended. The below mentioned side effects are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records of such effects due to Zanocin tablets.

  • Various allergic reactions such as itching, rashes, etc
  • Side effects that affect the central nervous system such as abnormal movements of the hands, legs, face, neck and tongue, numbness, impairment in spatial perception and stability (dizziness), sleeplessness, cephalalgia, etc
  • Problems of the digestive system such as vomiting or urge to vomit, stomach ache, diarrhea, etc

  • Zanocin when taken with Theophylline and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can increase the risk seizures.
  • Zanocin can increase the effects of anticoagulants such as nicoumalone and warfarin
  • Antacids can reduce the therapeutic effects of Zanocin
  • There is a high risk of renal damage if Zanocin is taken with Cyclosporin
