Active Ingredients:

  • Ceftriaxone

Therapeutic effects of Tercef: The active ingredient of Tercef is ceftriaxone. This ingredient is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotics. Ceftriaxone produces bactericidal effects by not allowing the biosynthesis of the bacterial cell walls. By blocking the carboxy and transpeptidase, Ceftriaxone distrupts the production of peptidoglycane. The said substance is responsible for the stability and stiffness of the cell wall. Once the peptidoglycane production is disturbed, the bacterial cell becomes unstable resulting to lysis of the microorganisms. Ceftriaxone is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is effective against wide variety of bacteria. The long list includes aerobic and anaerobic as well as Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms.

Indications: Tercef is administered to treat:

  • Condition in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria (Sepsis)
  • Infection of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord (Meningitis)
  • Infection of the abdomen (inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and bile-excreting ducts, peritonitis)
  • Infections of conjunctive tissue, joints, bones, and skin
  • Infections in people with weak immune system
  • Infection of the urinary tract and kidney
  • Bacterial infection of the air passage (ENT diseases, pneumonia)
  • Genital infections such as gonorrhea

Precautions and Restrictions: Tercef should not be used if you experience any of the below mentioned conditions:

  • If you are allergic to ceftriaxone or to other beta-lactam antibiotics
  • Diseases related to the digestive system such as colitis and malnutrition
  • Liver disorder
  • Any kind of renal disorder
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
