Active Ingredients:

  • Spiramycin

Therapeutic effects of Rovamycin: Rovamycin's active ingredient is spiramycin. This element is classified under macrolide antibiotic which gives off bacteriostatic action. Spiramycin intervenes with the synthesis of the proteins. This makes bacteria incapable of development and replication. When taken in high dosages, Spiramycin employs bactericidal action. The said ingredient is also effective against Gram-positive cocci. Aside from antibacterial activity, Spiramycin also has immunomodulatory and moderate anti-inflammatory properties.

Indications: Rovamycin is administered to treat infections caused by spiramycin bacteria such as:

  • Respiratory infections like acute pneumonia
  • Sever chronic inflammation of the bronchi
  • To prevent acute rheumatic disease
  • Infection of the small intestine with the parasite Cryptosporidium that causes diarrhea (Cryptosporidiosis)
  • Highly contagious bacterial disease that causes uncontrollable, violent coughing (pertussis)
  • Acute infectious disease caused by the bacteria Corynebacterium diphtheriae (diphtheria)
  • Diseases of Ear-nose-throat such as media otitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis
  • Chronic bone infection called Osteomyelitis
  • Arthritis
  • Infections of the skin and soft tissue
  • Infections of the urogenital system
  • STDs such as syphilis, gonorrhea, and clamidiosis
  • To prevent meningococcal meningitis

Precautions and Restrictions: Avoid Rovamycin under the following conditions:

  • If you are highly sensitive to the active ingredient of this medicine spiramycin or to other macrolide antibiotics
  • Serious liver disorder
  • If you are pregnant
  • If you are a nursing mother
  • If the user is very young

Side effects of Rovamycin tablets: Listed below are some of the side-effects one may experience after using Rovamycin tablets.   • Problems of the digestive system such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and dyspepsia
