Therapeutic effect of Cipro: Ciprofloxacin, the active ingredient of Cipro, is a potent antibiotic used for treating a wide range of bacterial infections. Ciprofloxacin is part of a class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolone. Fluoroquinolone also includes the following type of anti-bacterial medications: trovafloxacin (Trovan), moxifloxacin (Avelox), norfloxacin (Noroxin), gatifloxacin (Tequin), ofloxacin (Floxin), levofloxacin (Levaquin) and others. Ciprofloxacin inhibits the growth and multiplication of bacteria by stalling its repair and reproduction of its genetic material.
Indications: Infectious diseases of:
- Infections of the respiratory tract
- Skin infections and infections of soft tissue
- Infection of the bones and joints caused by bacteria
- Infections of the gastrointestinal tract caused by campylobacter, shigella, salmonella and other microorganisms
- Urinary tract infection (UTI)
- Bacterial infection of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord (meningitis)
- Gonococcal infection
- Infection after surgery
- Infections in people with cancer
Precautions and Restrictions: Use Cipro tablets with caution under the following circumstances:
- Kidney failure
- Epileptic seizure
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- If the user is below the age of 18
- If the user is an elderly person
- If the user is highly sensitive to the ingredients of this drug
Side effects of Cipro: Administration of Cipro tablets may lead to certain complications that are wholly or partly unintended. The side effects mentioned below are only a distant possibility and there are no prior proven records of such effects being caused by Cipro tablets. - Increased sunlight sensitivity
- Watery eyes
