Therapeutic effect of Flemoxin: Amoxicillin, the main ingredient used to make Flemoxin, is an antibiotic classified under the category of penicillin. This compound is one of the most used antibiotics that are readily recommended for children to treat a wide range of bacterial infections.
Indications: Flemoxin is used for treating:
- Infection of the respiratory tract
- Infections of the urogenital tract
- Infections of the gastrointestinal tract
- Skin infection and infection of the soft tissue
Precautions and Restrictions: Do not use Flemoxin if you are highly sensitive to Flemoxin or any penicillin category antibiotic or any similar compound. Patients suffering from renal failure should consult a doctor immediately and alter the dosage according to the level of renal damage. People with infectious mononucleosis may experience rashes while using Flemoxin.
Side effects: Talk to a physician at once if you experience any of the following side effects:
- Disorders of the central nervous system (CNS) such as dizziness, changes in behavior, rapid contraction and relaxation (convulsions), confusion, sleeplessness, anxiety, agitation, state of being abnormally active.
- Dermatologic reactions like hives, hypersensitivity vasculitis, Lyell's syndrome, erythroderma, Erythema multiforme, maculopapular rash, redness of the skin (erythematous ) and toxic pustuloderma.
- Reactions of the gastrointestinal tract such as discoloration of the tooth, infection of the large intestine (pseudomembranous colitis), hemorrhagic colitis, diarrhea, vomiting and nausea
- Hematologic reactions such as agranulocytosis, leukopenia, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia purpura, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia and lack of healthy red blood cells (Anemia)
- Liver disorders such as acute cytolytic hepatitis, hepatic cholestasis, cholestatic jaundice, Serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (SGPT) and Elevated AST (SGOT)
Interactions:
- Flemoxin when taken with Allopurinol may cause rashes
- Flemoxin reacts with Aminoglycosides
- Flemoxin with Methotrexate may increase the person's exposure to methotrexate when used continuously
- Flemoxin has shown to reduce the efficiency of contraceptive medicines
- Substances such as disulfiram and probenecid may increase the levels of amoxicillin
- When Flemoxin is taken with Warfarin, amoxicillin in this drug may increase the effect of Warfarin
Additional Information: Flemoxin tablets should not be used without prior approval of a doctor and don't share these drugs with anybody else. Flemoxin tablets are made for specific conditions and it's not advisable to use them for other purposes. Keep medicinal drugs, needles, syringes and other such medical substances out of the reach of children.
