Therapeutic effect of Ciprofloxacin: Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic which inhibits the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections ranging from pneumonia to gastrointestinal infections. Ciprofloxacin is also used as an active ingredient in numerous other antibiotics.
Indications: Ciprofloxacin is used to treat the following conditions:
- Infection of the ear and eye
- Fever
- Infections of throat
- Infections of the digestive system
- Skin infection
- Urinary tract infection
- Respiratory tract infection
Precautions and Restrictions: Use of Ciprofloxacin can cause drowsiness hence it's not advisable to take up activities such as driving and use of machinery since they require concentration and alertness. While taking Ciprofloxacin it's imperative to follow proper diet, drink a lot of water and try to avoid tea, coffee and other substances that have caffeine in them. When taken with other caffeine substances Ciprofloxacin may result in sleeplessness, anxiety, nervousness and palpitations.
