Active Ingredients:
- Norfloxacin
Therapeutic effects of Norbactin: Norbactin, a broad spectrum antibiotic, contains Norfloxacin as its active ingredient. Like any other fluoroquinolones, it works by limiting the activity of DNA-gyrase enzymes which are vital to replication of genetic materials also known as DNA. Suppressing the said reproduction process makes survival impossible for the bacteria.
Norfloxacin also contains Flour atom that enhances the range of the antibacterial activities against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Norfloxacin is capable of performing quick action against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Indications: Norbactin is administered to treat:
- Infections of the urinary tract such as urethritis, cystitis, pyelonephitis which are caused by Pseudomonas spp., Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Morganella morganii, Proteus spp., and E.coli.
- Gonococcal infections
- Infections of the gastrointestinal tract caused by E.coli, Campylobacter jejuni, Yersinia enterocolitica, Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., and Vibrio cholera.
- Norbactin is very potent against inflammation of the stomach and intestines caused by bacteria (Bacterial gastroenteritis).
Precautions and Restrictions: Never use Norbactin if the following applies to you:
- If you are allergic to norfloxacin or fluoroquinolones
- If you are pregnant
- If you are a nursing mother
- If you are suffering from Acute Liver Failure
- If you are suffering from renal failure
Users who experience the below mentioned conditions should consult a doctor before using this medicine:
- History of convulsions or suffers from epilepsy
- Has a personal history of ailments affecting the central nervous system
- Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
Warning!
- It is not advisable to expose oneself to direct sunlight while using this medicine.
- Avoid driving and operation of machinery while using this medicine.
- If you experience inflammation at the joints then stop using this medicine at once.
Side effects of Norbactin: Norbactin, like any other medicine carries the risk of causing a few side effects that varies in nature from person to person. These side effects are not applicable in nature or severity to every individual consuming Norbactin tablets.
This is a well tolerated medicine but on rare occasions users may experience reactions such as itching, rashes, sleeplessness, cephalalgia, upset stomach, etc.

Interactions: Talk to a doctor before taking any drug to make sure that it does not react with medicines you are already taking. This may include any over-the-counter or herbal medicine. This is to make sure that the combination of the two drugs is safe. Be cautious while using Norbactin tablets with the below mentioned medicines:
- Norbactin with NSAID's and Theophylline can enhance the risk of convulsions (Seizures)
- Norbactin when taken with anticoagulants can enhance the effectiveness of Norfloxacin
- Sucralfate reduces the absorption of Norfloxacin
- Norbactin when used with Cyclosporin can enhance the risks of renal damage
Additional Information: Norbactin tablets should not be used without prior approval of a trained physician and don't share these drugs with anybody else. Norbactin tablets are made for specific conditions and it's not advisable to use them for other purposes. Keep medicinal drugs out of the reach of children.
