Therapeutic effects of Sorbifer Durules: Sorbifer durules is made up of active ingredients which are ferrous sulfate and ascorbic acid.

Ferum also known as iron is an essential compound of hemoglobin which is a pigment of red blood cells. The said cells are important in transporting oxygen to the different cells found in the body. Iron is also a component of myoglobin, an oxygen-carrying protein of the muscles and heart tissue. Myoglobin stores oxygen during physical exercises. Durules technology gives a slow time bound release of ferrous sulfate for a prolonged duration.

Vitamin C or acid ascorbic is vital to blood clotting, controlling of the oxidation-reduction processes, carbohydrate metabolism, renewal of tissues, hormones production and stabilizing the permeability of the capillary.

Indications: Sorbifer durules is administered to:

  • Compensate for the insufficient dietary intake and absorption of iron (iron deficiency anemia)
  • Any condition which is caused due to low levels of iron in the blood
  • Given to pregnant women, breastfeeding mother, and blood donors as preventive medicine

Precautions and Restrictions: It is not advisable to use Sorbifer durules if you have the below mentioned conditions:

  • If you are allergic or hypersensitive to the components of this medicine
  • If you have Esophageal Stenosis and Gastrointestinal tract obstruction
  • General increase in tissue iron stores without associated tissue damage (hemosiderosis)
  • Problems related to iron utilization such as hemolytic anemia, sideroblastic anemia, lead anemia
  • If the user is below the age of 12

Observe caution while using this medicine if:

  • You have ulcer in the stomach or/and intestine
  • You have any condition that causes inflammations in the bowels (Crohn's disease, diverticulitis, enteritis, ulcerative colitis)
  • You are pregnant
  • You are a nursing mother

  • Antacids decrease the absorption of ferrous sulfate. Never use this tablet within 3 hours after the application of the mentioned above medicines.
  • Do not use Sorbifer durules along with ofloxacin, norfloxacin, and ciprofloxacin.
