Therapeutic effects of Nizoral shampoo: Nizoral has ketoconazole as its active ingredient. This anti-fungal drug works by restricting the growth of yeast and fungi cell membranes. Propagation of Ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, is also prevented by Nizoral. This may lead to the emergence of holes on the cell membrane of the fungi. As a result, it can be killed and eradicated completely.

Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo aids in obstructing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The latter is said to play a role in the death and falling out of hair follicles.

Nizoral also works by removing sebum deposits which cannot be removed through the use normal scalp cleansing techniques.
